Unique Ways To Celebrate Your Cats
Cats are quirky. Kittens are sometimes kooky, and always fun. Because September is Happy, Healthy Cat Month, let's talk about some fun ways to entertain -- and be entertained by -- your cat or kitten!
If you talk with someone who has never spent time around cats they may tell you that cats are aloof, boring because they sleep all day and that they don't truly care for humans. At Magoos Pet we know that is so far from the truth! Cats are so much fun and they do love their humans. Cats even suffer separation anxiety and don't want to be left home alone for hours at a time (we know that some people believe they are loners who are happy at home with their introverted selves) but they do enjoy company of humans and even other cats.
What can you do to show your kitty even more love than you already do? We have some fun ways to celebrate your cat this Happy, Healthy Cat month.
1. A new toy or some new catnip. Cats love toys and they love to have new items introduced to take away boredom. Yes, your cat may sleep the day away, but when they're awake they want to be entertained. Cats and kittens also need exercise to keep them fit and healthy. Try different types of toys to see what your cat enjoys the most -- Catnip filled toys? Stuffed mice? Feather toys? Get a new toy or two and play with your cat.
2. Some cats love to go outdoors and you may be able to train your cat to walk on a leash with a harness on. We are advocates for cats not being allowed to run free. They can get injured and cats can upset the wildlife by killing birds at your, or your neighbors, bird feeders. If you want to train your cat to walk on a leash, start when they are young and take your time, Reward your kitty with yummy treats as you're training him to walk on a leash.
3. Replace your cat's scratching posts or cat tree. They get worn out and will stop working and your cat may decide to scratch on your furniture if the scratching post isn't in good shape.
4. We know some cat parents who give their cats a tablet to play with and they put on some cat-friendly apps. One of the apps is fishing swimming around on the screen and the cat gets to "chase them." We're not sure if we'd give our kitty a tablet, but that's just us!
5. Show your cat or kitten some love by ensuring he is happy and healthy by scheduling an annual vet visit.
6. Give your kitty some treats. Cats may not drool over treats the way dogs do, but they do love a tasty snack now and again.
7. Snuggle and cuddle your kitty on a regular basis!
How will you celebrate your cat this month (and every month?)
